In 2006, a small but dedicated group of fly tiers in the Fayetteville, NC area planned a fundraising event to support the efforts of the March of Dimes in working to prevent preterm birth.
Tying flies to save babies!
The inaugural event was an immediate success, raising over $3500 for the March of Dimes, and donating approximately 350 flies to Casting for Recovery. We have now completed five Tie-a-thons. Together these Tie-a-thons and related events have raised over $25,000 for the March of Dimes, and more than 1400 flies have been donated! In addition, these events have been a lot of fun and have allowed us to introduce numerous people to the joys of fly tying.
Join us to help raise money for the March of Dimes, and to donate flies to Casting for Recovery.

6th Annual Fly Tie-a-thon and Open House at the Pechmann Fishing Education Center APRIL 30th 2011
Last Springs event was a resounding success. Not only did we once again raise over $5000, but we had the largest number of participating tiers of any event yet. The facilities of the John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center are hard to beat for an event such as this, and we are delighted to be able to hold this year's event there as well. Last year, Captain Jamie Rushing of SEAGATE CHARTERSfrom Wilmington, NC generously donated a 1/2 day fishing charter for our raffle. If inshore fishing is what you are looking for then Jamie is the man! He is especially interested in helping kids to have a memorable day on the water. This year we are very fortunate to have the support of another Wilmington area gude, Capt. Jon Huff of Circle HCharters. More information wll be forthcoming!
Other activities for the day are shaping up. There will be a schedule of activities posted closer to the time of the event. We are open for all suggestions. Please let us know if you will be participating as a tier. Start getting your sponsorship donations. Remember If you tie with us and raise $50 minimum you are eligible for a "Goody" bag. Tiers who raise over $100 will be eligible for a drawing for a rod and reel. Please check back with this website for updates as the 6th Annual Fly Tie-a-thon takes shape.
