Q. What is the connection between fly tying and the March of Dimes?
One of the founding members of the Fayetteville Fly Tiers works in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit caring for 100's of infants annually who are critically ill because of being born prematurely. The Fly Tie-a-thon was conceived as a way to combine the passion (if not addiction) to fly tying with a way to raise money for working to eliminate the problem of premature birth.
Q. How can I participate?
There are multiple ways to participate. The biggest committment (and the most fun!), is to participate as a Tie-a-thon tier. This involves tying for the entire extent of the event (9 hours), raising the minimum sponsorship donation, and donating all flies tied, to the event. Other ways to participate are to tie for a portion of the event and donate the flies tied. We also encourage people to drop by and purchase flies, offer cash donations, receive focused individual lessons (donations requested), or to bid on auction items.
Q. What about corporate sponsorships? (UPDATED 3/11)
We are actively looking for corporate sponsorships in the form of cash, goods, or services. There are 3 levels of sponsorship:
GOLD ($500) : Large graphic and coorporate statement on website, link to corporate website, name mentioned in advertisements, sign at event, item in "goody bag" that will be given to tie-a-thon participants.
SILVER ($250): Smaller graphic on website and coorporate statement, item in "goody bag".
COPPER ($150): Name on website, item in "goody bag".
Donation of fly tying materials is appreciated as well to support the participating tiers during the event.
Q. Are there any benefits to full participation in the event?
The main benefit is the satisfaction you will feel for sharing your talents and expertise to raise contributions (and awareness) for two valuable charities! Individuals participating as tiers for the entire event, and who have raised the minimum sponsorship funds, will receive a "goody bag" that will contain a commemorative T-shirt as well as other items of interest to fly fishing and the outdoors.
Q How can I make a donation to this worthy event?
All financial contributions are to be made in the name of the "March of Dimes". They can be mailed to the address on the contact page or delivered directly to the event. Contibutions can also be made directly through the March for Babies website. |
